Health & Safety

 

It is the policy of Stevenage Leisure Limited to comply with both the letter and spirit of the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and all other relevant legislation, and to regard the provisions of this legislation as minimum requirements.

 

Customer and staff safety, and the safety of contractors to our premises, is central to our philosophy.

SLL has, a strong health and safety culture inbred at all levels of the organisation from Main Board level, through the Management Team to the Corporate H&S Committee that meets regularly, down to staff at each site.

We will undertake to provide adequate health and safety training and information to all employees at all levels to enable them to improve their knowledge and awareness of health and safety, and to discharge their own health and safety responsibilities.

SLL uses the HSE’s HSG65 framework on Successful Health & Safety Management. This model identifies 5 key areas:

Policy

SLL like other successful organisation has a Health & Safety Policy that meets its responsibilities to all stakeholders and creates a working environment that fulfils both the spirit and letter of the law. This policy influences all of our range of activities, services and working systems.

Organisation

SLL is structured and has a positive culture to encourage involvement and participation at all levels to help successfully put its policies into action, motivating and empowering people to work safely through effective communication consultation and training.

Work Directions

SLL adopts a planned and systematic approach to policy implementation with robust overall control arrangements and risk control systems to minimise and eliminate risk wherever possible, using risk assessment methods to decide priorities and set objectives and performance standards.

Performance Measurement

As a company SLL is both proactive and reactive in its monitoring and reporting or performance against relevant key performance indicators, identifying actions to improve performance

Auditing and Reviewing Performance

As part of SLL’s policy of continuous improvement, SLL uses a specialist external company, Right Directions, to regularly audit our centres on the four areas identified above
