Update on developments at Fairlands Valley Park and
Sailing Centre

Having been established since 1972, Fairlands Valley has now undergone major developments to the Centre and Park.

The main sailing lake was drained in March 2007 for mattress and surround restoration and main valve replacement. We are pleased to report that we once again have a full lake which means we can offer a full range of RYA recognised dinghy, windsurfing & powerboat/pwc courses along with the ability to hire craft to those who have undertaken a dinghy or windsurfing course.

The Environmental project (known to some as the Marshes) has benefited from lake relining, and the surrounding environment now boasts new landscaping and planting. A viewing platform enables greater access, with the adjacent path having been widened and resurfaced.

The Sailing Centre and café areas have experienced a major face lift which began in late March 2008. This has now resulted in controlled new, safer and updated facilities and changing rooms for those using the sport and sailing amenity. There is no longer a public toilet facility at the Sailing Centre, but newly refurbished toilets are available in Costello's Cafe during their opening hours only.

The Centre now supports a new and improved conference room with Smart board which is available for hire for corporate events and presentations along with catering from the on-site caterers, Costello’s if required.

The new free Aqua Park opens daily during the summer holidays between 11am and 5pm. This area replaces the old paddling pools and has a series of water jets and squirts. There are public toilets available at this site within the biulding, but only when the on site kiosk is open.

Fishing at Fairlands Valley Park

Stevenage Borough Council is pleased to announce that fishing will return to Fairlands Valley Park for the new fishing season. The Council has appointed Welwyn Garden City Angling Club (WGCAC) to manage the fishing activity at the Park from the start of the new fishing season on Wednesday 16 June.
