RYA Powerboat Courses
The RYA National Powerboat Scheme exists to meet the needs of those who use small, open powerboats for sport. We run the RYA powerboat course along with the opportunity to obtain an International Certificate of Competence. This will meet the requirements of other countries if you intend using your boat on inland waterways abroad.
Powerboat Courses and Assessments RYA Level 1 & 2 combined
Cost of course: £180
This comprehensive course will provide a basic introduction to safe boat handling skills. Elements include: man overboard recovery and high/low speed manoeuvring along with many more theoretical aspects of boating. Level 2 is also the basic level required for the International Certificate of Competence. For validity of this certificate on inland waters, you will also have to complete a CEVNI test. The course will be conducted in the Centre’s 40hp RIB or, where possible, in the candidate’s own suitable craft (subject to the Centre’s regulations).

RYA Level 2 Direct Assessment and International Certificate of Competence
Cost of course £80 per person

This certificate will be necessary if you intend to use or hire boats on inland water throughout Europe. In conjunction with this candidates will be required to complete a CEVNI test. This course will be conducted in the centre's own 40hp rib or where possible in the candidate's own craft.
Experience required: Practical and theoretical knowledge commensurate with the RYA Powerboat Level 2 syllabus.
RYA Personal Watercraft Certificate
Personal watercraft can only be used on the lake for training and assessment purposes. These sessions will be conducted at a convenient time by our fully qualified staff.

Assessment
£80
A one-day assessment can be arranged to suit your needs, and our qualified staff will be able to assess you on your own craft (subject to Centre’s regulations).
Experience required: Practical, theoretical knowledge of the RYA Personal Watercraft syllabus.

Training and assessment
£180
A two-day training and assessment can be arranged to enable you to reach the level of competence required by the RYA Personal Watercraft Certificate, using your own craft.
Coastal endorsements and own boat tuition are available for all our courses (boats up to 8m) at a cost of £30 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours. Mileage will be charged from the sailing centre at 45p per mile. Please contact us for further details.
