Sailability at Fairlands Valley Park
Sport is a very important part of all our lives and brings enormous physical, social and psychological benefits. These benefits are particularly important for people with disabilities, but often they get to enjoy them all too rarely.
Sailing more than any other sport gives us a chance to change this. At Fairlands Valley Sailing Centre we support the RYA Sailability scheme and believe we are well placed to help people with disabilities take up the sport, young or old.
Stevenage Sailability have had a great year (2011), nominated for two awards Herts Sports Partnership:Best new club and Pride of Stevenage Award. We won the SoSharing Section: Volunteers being recognised for working hard to promote the Physical and, Social and psychological benifits of Sport, and make sailing an enjoyable experience for lots of people of different ages with physical disabilities.
