Monday to Friday: 6.30am - 10pm
Saturday and Sunday: 7am - 6pm
Wednesday evenings: 8pm - 10pm - for Ladies only
Thursday evenings: 8pm - 10pm - for Adults only
Off-Peak = Monday to Friday 9am -5pm
Peak = At all other times and all School Holidays
Based in extensive grounds of approx 1acre on Butts Close, Hitchin Swimming Centre offers a wide range of leisure opportunities for all the community.
With regards to wetside activities the centre boasts:
A 50m heated outdoor pool (open from 25th May to 8th September).
with sunbathing terrace, A 25m deck level 8 lane indoor heated pool
An indoor toddler pool. Last entry to the swimming pool is 30 minutes before the pool closes
The centre also operates SLL’s highly successful AquaEd
Swim School, following the ASA’s National Plan for Teaching
Swimming, and giving adults and children the opportunity to learn to swim in a safe and supportive environment.
The superbly equipped Archers Health & Fitness Club offers an 80-station Technogym equipped fitness suite, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi complete with exclusive members changing rooms. Archers offers a range of fitness memberships to suit both your needs and lifestyle.
You can also enjoy a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks at the Splash Café.
The Centre is set within a 3-acre site on Butts Close Common which itself is central to Hitchin and is a few minutes walk from the busy town centre. By Rail, Hitchin Station, is approximately 5 minute taxi ride away. Bus numbers 90, 94, 99, 97, 100, 101 all stop outside the centre.
Advanced notice of Hitchin Swimming Centre / Archers refurbishments
Refurbishment of the changing rooms and Relaxation Areas at Archers Health and Fitness Club as well as the Hitchin Swimming Centre reception toilets will begin next month. The project will be staggered to keep disruption to a minimum.
Work is programmed to start on Monday 3 November 2014, and phase 1 will involve refurbishment of Archers changing rooms and the reception toilets. The facility will remain open to customers and members throughout the work. It is estimated that work should be completed early January 2015.
Refurbishment of the Relaxation Area will then start and is due to be completed by the end of March 2015.
