The Humphrey Lyttelton Band
Friday 30th January

The Humphrey Lyttelton Band Remembers Humph and celebrates his Music.
In February 2008, Humphrey Lyttelton, trumpeter, cartoonist, writer of eight books and BBC presenter of both jazz and award-winning comedy, celebrated sixty unbroken years as a bandleader.
His mother bought him a trumpet in 1936 and it was seldom out of his reach from then on, even accompanying him on the Salerno beachhead landing in Italy in World War II. The band he formed in 1948, after a previous year’s apprenticeship with George Webb’s Dixielanders, had a long association with Parlophone Records through the fifties, reaching the Top Twenty in the popularity charts with his Bad Penny Blues in 1956 – a British jazz ‘first’.
The ever in demand Wally Fawkes will be performing as well as Brian Perking a very talented classic guitarist. Wally is a British-Canadian jazz Clarinetist who is a founding member of the original Humphrey Lyttelon revivalist Jazz band in the late 1940's. Also a famous cartoonist with his highly established 'Flook' cartoon which Humphrey was one of the writers for.
This is an un-missable night of classic ,British jazz.
