MEMBERS BENEFIT FROM SAXON REFURBISHMENT
30/1/2012
November and December has seen big changes to the fitness provision at Saxon Pool & Leisure Centre. The first week of November brought the introduction of 2 brand new models of Powerplates. A master trainer delivered training and master sessions to members ... vibration training started. This is a great complement to the existing gym equipment and workout training programmes currently offered at site.
At the beginning of December it was announced to the members that a gym refurbishment would be taking place over Christmas. Customer feedback, Industry fitness trends, equipment provider (Technogym) recommendations and staff suggestions all contributed to the development that took place.
The following 3 weeks of December saw the development of a new functional area, increased resistance training options and a new breed of Cardiovascular equipment, with the old Cardiovascular machines and Biostrength equipment replaced with the latest Cardiovascular range and Kinesis stations from Technogym. This new cardiovascular kit includes predefined and user specific training programmes, interactive menus to help learn more about exercise and training, Internet connectivity, multiple TV and radio channels, internal messaging and other entertainment options. The equipment is far more user friendly and brings the fun back into training. Additional resistance equipment was also included in the development, with increased free weights, 3 new resistance machines and a larger matted area. Finally, 2 pieces of equipment from the Flexibility range of Technogym machines encourage and assist members to stretch more effectively.

The final most exciting part of the refurbishment involved the development of a functional training area kitted out with Kinesis Stations and ARKE (Functional training tools). Saxon is the 1st site in the UK to have the full range of Kinesis stations which are a selection of multi-functional machines. The latest addition to the Kinesis family, Kinesis Stations is a collection of 6 machines which utilise the exclusive Full Gravity Technology system, allowing users to train tri-dimensionally by supporting natural movements and providing variable resistance with relation to range and angle of movement. Along with the ARKE equipment the Kinesis stations create a fun, interactive and functional area that can benefit all users no matter what their ability or goals.
The customer response has been brilliant. Feedback from members include: "awesome", "amazing", "love the new Kinesis stations", "can already feel the benefit of stretching properly which has helped me work harder and achieve more whilst training", "Training is far more fun", "Every day I can vary my training so much with the endless options I now have with the new equipment".
In the first 3 weeks since the opening of the newly refurbishment gym, the centre has welcomed 125 new members, to join the 1,700 people who have already chosen Saxon Pool and Leisure Centre as their fitness facility of choice.
